The trees are blooming! And they’re early. It’s not even spring yet; winter doesn’t end until the wee hours tonight. This lovely grove of trees is on the grounds of the Washington Monument, across from the Ellipse.
If you’ve forgotten what the trees looked like a couple of weeks ago, I posted a bud picture in early March. Then the experts were predicting the peak would come next week, but now they’re saying the peak is tomorrow. It looked like peak to me today–very few bare branches and almost no petals on the ground.
Ok, fine, you can have another flower picture.

Lovely! But I woke up to a thunderstorm and I wonder what that heavy downpour will have done to the blossoms. Maybe I’ll just *have* to take a break from work today and hop on a bikeshare bike to find out.
Excellent idea!
I went! It was amazingly beautiful! Yay.
So beautiful anywhere! It’s cold (3℃ this morning) here in Kyoto, so the Sakura trees are asleep yet.
