Hey Helen,
My Dad used to tell me a WWII true story about the passwords that our allies used to trip-up the Japanese during that war.
The Japanese have always had a hard time pronouncing the letter "L,", since "L" is not in their vocabulary -- hence allies used "L" in their passwords such as"lollipop" or, especially, "lollapalooza" to identify them.
The Japanese would wind up saying either "rorripop" or "rorraparooza",-- and get caught!.
Thus, today, when we used to say "that's a lollapalooza", it probably expressed positive excitement about something.
